AW09 Trend Alert - Sequins - 80’s Disco Dress
Aug 24, 2009 A/W 09, debenhams, fashion
80’s fashion is back and if this little disco dress is anything to go by - it’s going to be a very popular trend!
Swathed in colourful sequins, this shiny, shiny dress is the latest offering from Matthew Williamson at Debenhams.
The perfect number for those wanting to channel the 80’s trend without looking too Dynasty it’s a softer shape then some of the more structured nod-to-the-80’s dresses currently available….and there’s not a shoulder pad in sight!
Sequins are everywhere, glitzy and fun, they’re a wonderful way to lighten your mood - I think every woman should have at least one sequin embellished item in their wardrobe this season!
So if you’re feeling a little nostalgic or are looking for a flirty little disco dress that’s bound to turn heads, this 80’s number from Debenhams is a must!

Autumn/Winter Trends 2009 - Trend Report 09/10
Aug 20, 2009 A/W 09, Dorothy Perkins, celebrities, debenhams, fashion, homages
It might only be August, but the hectic Summer sales have been and gone and our high street stores are already full of stock for cool and snappy weather…so I thought I’d fill you in on some of the key trends Autumn/Winter 09-10.
The 80’s are back! I must admit my first reaction was WHY? I did the 80’s the first time round and was vexed to see why teens were lapping up the whole leggings/neon heels/off-the-shoulder tee’s look, but as I have already been there, done that - who am I to judge?
I am pleased to say that the 80’s trend Autumn/Winter 09 is vastly different, homing in on the best of the 80’s - shoulder pads and embellishments! Think Dynasty meets Samantha from Sex and the City; structured jackets, flattering draping and fitted knits covered in bling… just writing about it puts me in a good mood! If you’ve taken any notice of the gorgeous Diane Kruger of late, she’s been rocking this trend for a while, courtesy of Jason Wu.
Inspired by the film ‘Coco Before Chanel’ our love affair with ‘Parisian Chic’ and ‘Chanel homages’ has once again dominated the high street with most shops churning out nautical themed tops and ‘ I Love Paris’ tee’s; but it’s the Chanel style jackets and bags you should really sit up and pay attention too - as most are quite simply, brilliant and a snip of a designer price tag!
My personal favourite is our current love affair with the Hero Jacket - or Trophy Jacket as it’s now known - a cropped jacket that’s adorned with sequins and embellishments, it makes a real statement and can transform an outfit. Moschino have designed some beautifully delicate versions, covered in pins and crystals but it’s Dolce & Gabbana’s ornate brocade Trophy Jacket and sequin jacket that’s are the real winners. Stunning ‘homages’ can be found on the high street at Topshop, Mango and Dorothy Perkins.
Micro trends Autumn/Winter 09-10 include over-the-knee boots, or ‘panto boots’ as I affectionately call them! Stella McCartney has created a lovely pair of flat over-the-knee boots that look oh-so-comfy… high street shops Russell and Bromley and New Look have followed suit.
The statement necklace or bib necklace is still massively en vogue and a great way of updating a plain ensemble - best on the high street is definitely the Accessorise range, but Primark has also created a statement necklace worthy of appraisal!
English heritage is another trend that has endured through to this next season - this perhaps has a lot to do with that feeling of nostalgia we all crave when times are tough… Nicole Fahri and Vivienne Westwood have designed beautifully cut dresses and jackets made of tweed, velvet and plaid prints. Gap has released a jaw-droppingly sharp version of a vintage tweed jacket with a modern twist that’s well worth a look.
When casting my eye over the key trend Autumn/Winer 09-10 one thing really stands out at me - the level of high quality cuts and craftsmenship prevelent in our high street ranges. Key trends look less dissposable - and clearly are less dissposable as they come with a price tag that reflects the level of work put into the garment. Fast fashion has had its day and our high street has taken notice, creating beautiful ranges of investment pieces designed and made with materials that will stand the test of time. This excites me - a lot.

Boob-Job Bikini - Debenhams
Jul 17, 2009 debenhams, shapewear, swimwear
Dubbed the ‘boob-job bikini‘ this green wonder from Debenhams is flying off shelves as women clamour to buy the curve-enhancing swimwear…
Gel filled cups have been designed to give the effect of a Wonderbra, hence the boob-job bikini tag, whilst the boosted cups apparently add extra support to those already well endowed with bigger busts!
Debenhams Red Herring range is full of wonderful, feminine swimwear but it’s this two-piece that’s really turning heads; flattering and very inexpensive, it saves you the hassle of heading to to the gym for a pre-holiday tone up!
Buy the boob-job bikini before it’s too late!

Debenhams sale is now on! They have currently got up to 50% off womens clothing in the Debenhams sale which includes womens accessories too!
My favourite is the Navy Vintage Rose Print Dress by Red Herring on sale for £24.50 down from £35. The floral trend is huge for the spring/summer season, making this garden bloom print a perfect choice! Think ditsy Cath Kidston style prints and you’ll be bang on-trend!
Nipped in at the wiast with a full skirt, this vintage-esque dress is a flattering choice - very Kelly Brook and whats more, it’s part of the Debenhams sale!

Betty Jackson - Shift Dress - Debenhams - This Morning
Mar 3, 2009 debenhams, fashion
The shift dress is back! With the arrival of uber stylish Michelle Obama in the White House and the return of Victoria Beckhams fashion line; featuring structured shift dresses, it’s obvious this trend is back with vengeance! It’s easy to see why the Betty Jackson shift dress is so enduringly popular - as it’s such an easy style to wear!
This Morning has just featured a stunning range of shift dresses from our high street - with my firm favourite being the Silver Tulip Shift Dress by Betty Jackson for Debenhams as it’s beautiful and such wonderful value for money. Betty Jackson shift dress has been designed with flattery in mind, its nipped in waist will flatter any figure, whilst the tulip skirt adds extra feminine curve. Made from a luxurious silk weave, offering sumptuous texture, it’s stunning structure makes this Betty Jackson shift dress from Debenhams a no-brainer investment buy that will see you through season to season. A must-have!

Kate Hudson Bride Wars Premier - Debenhams Dress - Pierce II Fionda - Oscar De La Renta
Jan 21, 2009 debenhams, fashion
I’m a big fan of Kate Hudson’s sassy style - she always looks like she’s having fun with her fashion. The Oscar De La Renta dress Kate Hudson wore to the Bride Wars Premiere was a stunning choice, a cheeky nod to Bridal wear and the perfect accompaniment to Anne Hathaways tailored ‘groom’ suit.
If you want to steal Kate Hudson’s style, then have a look at this dress from the designer range at Debenhams. Famed for their collaberations, Debenhams have teamed up with Pierce II Fionda to create this beautiful Ivory and Black Embroidered Fishtail Evening Dress, similar to the Oscar De La Renta gown Kate wore to the Bride Wars premier. Although technically a two-piece, Kate Hudson’s outfit was a similar cut to this Debenhams dress, which will add shape to slim girls or accentuate a curvy girls figure and with a price tag of £160 we could all have a slice of this ‘A’ list (wedding) cake!

Debenhams Sale Dresses
Dec 23, 2008 debenhams
As I previously mentioned, the Debenhams sale is massive and this afternoon I’ve relished having the time to scour the site for Debenhams sale ‘must haves’! Although I’ve plenty of (rarely worn) party outfits in my wardrobe, my attention has been drawn to the wonderful array of dresses on sale.
Debenhams are famed for their designer collaborations and now have the added bonus of getting the ‘Godfather’ of Stylists on-board to cast a tasteful eye on ‘whats hot’. The wondeful Mark Heyes picked out the Bright Green Bandeau Tierred Dress as one of his ’suggests’ and it’s currently one of the dresses on sale. This lovely number, from the Debenhams Limited Edition range is elegant and chic, whats more, the colour will transcend perfectly into next season.
My favorite item from the Debenhams Sale, is actually another Mark Heyes ’suggests’ pick, the uber gorgeous Limited Edition Dark Grey Ombre Sequin Dress, from the Debenhams Star by Julien Macdonald range. This stunning dress is on sale for £175…that’s a whopping £75 off its original price! With its shimmering body and sumptuous layer of feathers, this killer dress reminds me of the Collette Dinnigan number Fern Cotton wore to the National T.V Awards this year and at a snip of the price, (the Dinnigam dress will set you back £2,210!) if you bag this little number you’ll not only look amazing, but be quids in!
Debenhams Sale:
Dec 22, 2008 debenhams
Debenhams sales are famed for their amazing offers and this fesive season, they don’t dissapoint as Debenhams currently have a fantastic sale on, with up to 70% off!
I’ve only managed a quick look (things are a little hectic at the moment) and have every intention of posting up some info on the ‘must have’ Debenhams Sale bargains a little later. For the moment however, take a look at the lingerie sale, womens sale and and of course, the designers sale where you can snap up gorgeous items for as little as £22!
Things are tight for most of us in this current climate, so if you can only afford to visit one department store for post Christmas bargains, make sure it’s the Debenhams Sale!
Another Debenhams sale is also going live on Christmas Day, stay tuned for more information about the Christmas Day Debenhams Sale when I get it.
