A lot of readers have been in touch recently asking for recommendations for stylish maternity wear. It seems expectant mums are having a hard time finding fashionable maternity wear that’s reasonably priced…
More and more mums-to-be seem to be getting exasperated by this fact and rightly so; with the wedding season upon us and summer holidays around the corner, on-trend maternity wear is a must and so – after doing some re-search I decided to create a sister site tailored to these needs.

Xen Tan Transform Review – Self Tanning – Tanning Lotion

It’s late January and I’m naturally very pale – so on viewing a Facebook photo of myself looking corpse-coloured next to my friend and her newborn (yes, even the baby had more colour) I realised it was time to break open my new tube of self tan!
I’ve bough Xen Tan Transform, part of the Xen Tan range that recently arrived in GB following its enormous popularity in L.A; it’s the self tan favoured by the famous!
My tan of choice is the subtle daily moisturiser; the Xen Tan Transform claims to create a hint of tan without you really noticing, more of a ‘brightener’ than an tint.
I’ve literally just applied my Xen Tan and have to say am impressed by the consistency, which is light and fragrance, which is pleasant and not at all ‘biscuit-like.’
Xen Tan claims to have an innovative time-release formula that provokes an immediate reaction on your skin and whilst I can’t see a definite colour change yet, my skin does look more illuminated.

At a time when everyone’s feeling the pinch, buying a staple item for your wardrobe is the way to stay on trend without being frivolous.
Purchasing a t-shirt or two is a great way of updating your look and if you buy the right one, will last for many years transcending disposable, fast fashion.
Graphic t-shirts have always come up trumps, in particular, vintage style band t-shirts – which look fabulous with any number of different outfits and trends in the ever changeable weather we seem to have. Look no further than the weekly fashion mags to see what a popular choice the t-shirt is amongst our fashion conscious celebs, who pull off dressed down graphic or glammed up rock tee in equal measure!
I’ve noticed Urban Outfitters always have a great range of t-shirts in store and this seasons styles don’t disappoint! Peppers Lonely Heart Club top by Junk Food features the iconic album cover of the same name and so is sure to remain a timeless classic! I’ll be teaming mine with a pair of skin tight wet-look leggings for a wintry night out, but you could create an effortless look by teaming it with a pair of jeans and biker jacket like the Urban Outfitters quilted Alex (left).

Dita Von Teese for Wonderbra

Burlesque beauty (and my big girl crush of the moment) Dita Von Teese launched her new range for Wonderbra yesterday, by swinging on a giant bra in Covent Garden! The luxury lingerie, designed by Dita herself, was inspired by her love of 40’s fabrics and 50’s shapes, combining it with modern strip tease and neo burlesque styles. The Wonderbra by Dita Von Teese line includes a mixture of suspenders, thongs and bras, which Von Teese says are so comfortable that she wears them regularly.
This stunning Wonderbra range,consists of three different designs Multi Teese, Spot Teese and Satin Teese and is apparently, both luxurious and feminine, providing support and comfort for all sizes. Although, Ms Von Teese is an advocate of women dressing for ones self, “Every woman needs a little moment of beauty to have for herself. New i-Pod Nano

i-Pod have just released their 4th generation Nano and I’m v.impressed! Currently I only own a shuffle, as my better half has a 2nd generation Nano which he hooks up to our home system, but the impressive extras on the new model has tempted me to get my own.
Now available in nine different colours the new generation are vibrant and sexy. I assumed I’d want the pink version, however, I’ve actually fallen for the yellow – as it would literally brighten up my day!
Now made from aluminium and glass, the i-Pod Nano is light and looks beautifully seamless. The Nano’s new Genius Tool is, genius…for want of a better word. If you’re listening to a song and want to listen to other tracks that compliment it, the Genius feature will find the songs in your music library that go well with the song creating a Genius Playlist for you. For a little unpredictability, simply shake your i-Pod Nano and your playlist will be shuffled around.

Brighten Up Your Day At Marks and Spencers!

Summer didn’t seem to happen this year and with the wind and rain taking up permanent residence outside our windows – surely we should find some way to brighten up our days? Well, look no further than your local Marks and Spencer’s to inject some colour into your wardrobe, as this high street favourite has come up trumps in the style stakes!
M&S have a huge range of coats and jackets to choose from, but my personal favourite is this Limited Collection Wool Rich Melton Waisted Jacket, recently featured in Vogue and part of Limited’s ‘Colour Parade’ trend ‘a mix of quirky shapes, military inspired tailoring and pops of bright primary colour’.
Available in Ochre, it will certainly inject some much needed sunshine into your day!

Tartan and Checks:Autumn 08

Tartan is back and it’s everywhere! A trend offered up by Dolce and Gabbana, who produced show-stopping tartan and pussy bows inspired by The Queen! We’ve seen it on many a celebrity in all sorts of shapes and forms, from prom dresses and trousers to cute little bows on shoes and bags. To avoid check overkill I’ll be wearing mine in the form of a shirt and there’s plenty to choose from……
I am a huge fan of this voluminous pussy bow shirt from Miss Selfridge, tying three trends into one with its neck tie, plaid print and billowing sleeves. It looks like a great homage to Dolce & Gabbana, but a snip of the price at £28.
For more casual, street chic, why not try this western style check shirt, from Republic in cream. It would look great left un-buttoned with a vintage print shirt underneath for a boyish feel as seen on Agyness Deyn and Fearne Cotton. Team with dark denim leather for a modern edge or inject some ‘country’ by adding a neck tie!
New Look Lace and Ruffle Dress

In recent years, New Look has been on my radar as a store that designs fabulous shoes on a purse friendly budget, however, since the arrival of the Giles Deacon for New Look range, I’ve really stood up and paid attention. Not only is the latter full of wonderful on-trend items, but the standard of New Look’s entire range has improved with Deacons arrival. I find myself getting very exited by the arrival of new stock, particularly the dresses, which are at the cutting edge of each seasons’ trends. So, for a touch of gothic romance try this lace and ruffle dress.
Prevalent on the catwalk for Autumn/Winter, Prada rekindled our love of dramatic lines and ladylike lace with Miuccia Prada explaining that she ‘wanted to create minimalist shapes and for minimalism, you need a surface that is interesting’. The silhouette is sharp and sexy, with a strong Victoriana feel to it, most apparent in the demure neckline.The hem of the dress is covered in ruffles, another key trend thats a favorite with celebs and has been a prevelent look on the red carpet with Natalie Portman in Cannes to Anne Hathaway in Venice.

Label Lust: All Saints

The Dancia shirt dress from All Saints A/W range has got me going ga ga! It combines three key trends for A/W 08, a hint of goth, punk and ladylike structure. This willowy dress would look great teamed with a pair of peep toed shoe boots or over a pair of leather trousers or wet look jeans. Available in brown, this muted tone is so on trend!
Vesitile and voluminous, I’d layer it up for night with crucifixes, chains and plenty of black kohl and keep it simple by day, with a black bowler hat!
Or team it with these ‘wet look ‘ leggings a great alternative to foux leather trousers, which can feel stiff and uncomfortable. To balance out the look, try the Kealy Boot…… very Ashleigh Olsen.
