Coast – Lupin Bow Dress – Party Dress – Wedding

I have been invitied to my first same sex wedding! This morning I recieved my invite to Andrew and Lee’s ‘ Pink; Country Chic’ themed wedding, to take place in Devon in June. I am so exited I have actually started planning my outfit and knowing that the wedding will be very flamboyant I’m going to pull out all the stops, to ensure I look fabulous!

Coast was obviously my first port of call and just so happened to be my last, as I found the perfect party dress for the wedding. The Lupin Bow Dress from Coast is just gorgeous; a hot pink, strapless shift-dress that falls just to the knee, this stunning little party dress is sure to turn heads. It’s got an over-sized bow with pale pink trim attached to the sides adding a modern tongue-in-cheek twist that ensures the dress (and wearer) don’t take themselves too seriously! Coast have come up trumps with this design, which is the perfect party dress for my first gay wedding! Now if I could just find some shoes…..

Dorothy Perkins – Cheetah T-shirt – Eagle T-shirt – Panda T-shirt – SS09

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dorothy Perkins SS09 range – it looks awesome, full of beautiful prints and stunning retro inspired dresses… however, it’s yet to arrive, so today I consoled myself by drooling over their new range of endangered animal print T-shirts!

These stunning T-shirts include a Panda print, Cheetah and Eagle and are available in green and yellow. My favorite Dorothy Perkins print is the Yellow Drape Cheetah T-shirt, which would look great with a pair of indigo jeans and Converse trainers.

Acid Wash – 80′s Denim – Miss Selfridge Acid Wash Denim Dress

Acid wash denim is back! Inspired by the trashy 80′s trend, this current craze is all about channelling your inner Debbie Harry! The high street is awash with 80′s acid wash and stone wash denim….and sure, you could tone down the look by pairing acid wash jeans with a plain white T and Converse boots, but I think, if your going to channel 80′s, commit whole-heartedly!

This Acid Wash Denim Zip Dress from Miss Selfridge is trashtastic! Duel trend this boobtube dress is not only the right wash of denim – but it’s covered in zips, an 09 must-have!

Head to Miss Selfridge for your acid wash hit!

Maytag Drying Cabinet – Sunday Times Home – john Lewis

I feel compelled to write about a genius device that I read about in the Sunday Times Home suppliment; the Maytag MDE110AES Drying Cabinet from John Lewis. Set to revolutionise how we dry dry our clothes, the Maytag Drying Cabinet has three different drying settings and various hangers, racks and prongs – equil to 16 metres of washing line. Added bonus – because it doesn’t tumble clothes, fabrics wont get damaged or shrink! You can dry almost anything it the Maytag Drying Cabinet, form wellies to coats and cashmere!

I think John Lewis is the only retailer currently selling the cabinet, which is priced at £628 pounds – but it won’t be long before others discover this awesome device. Sure to be a popular choice in modern homes; start saving for your Maytag Drying Cabinet now! Visit John Lewis to view this item.

‘Homage’ Chanel Jacket – Marks and Spencer

Grazia are calling it ‘Chanelism’, ‘ I’ll call it ‘Chanel-esq’, whatever you chose to call it, there’s no doubt this chic classic jacket is back! The High Street has been awash with wonderful ‘homage’ pieces for some time – but the Chanel (esq) Jacket is my favorite by far. Chic and sexy, the Chanel Jacket has always opitimised great style. A style born from Coco Chanel cutting up her lovers slouchy jumper and bounding ribbons to the outer edges, this look is as famous for the contrasting edging as it is for its tailored, cropped cut.

Marks and Spencer has created a wonderful ‘homage’ to this style, with their 3/4 Sleeve Bound Edge Jacket , beautifully designed with Mark and Spencer’s usual high quality tailoring. The Chanel Jacket is typically paired with a 3/4 length skirt, but a ‘homage’ jacket could be teamed with high shine leggings or indigo skinny jeans for an edgier look.

She-Ra T-shirt – Truffle Shuffle – Loungewear Trend

I’m getting the impression that Loungewear is set to be a hot trend for 09 – if this is the case then I’m permanently on-trend!!! I live in my sweats, leggings and oversized jumpers (ah, the joys of working from home!) but have, of late noticed that my attire is looking drab and tired…its one thing to look comfy…quite another to be down-right slob!!

Had a ganders on Truffle Shuffle this avo and now I can’t stop thinking of all the T-shirts I’d like! For those of you who don’t know, Truffle Shuffle is an awesome site that sells retro T-shirts with prints of retro T.V shows on them. There are soooo many to choose from as you find yourself getting really nostalgic about the cartoons and movies of yester-year. My firm favorite is the She-Ra T-shirtShe-Ra was after all, my childhood hero!

Head to Truffle Shuffle for some retro cartoon action!

Leather Jackets – New Look – Vintage Bomber Jacket

New Look have reported an increase in sales at a time when most stores are struggling – take a quick look at their site and it’s easy to see why! So far the New Look SS09 range looks fab, but it’s the tailored leather look and leather jackets I am particularly interested in. Yesterdays Grazia Magazine featured soft leather jackets in a feature that pointed out how enduringly popular this item of outer-wear is. They’re right, a leather jacket is a wonderful, diverse staple item – you can dress it up with jeans or add edge to a frou frou frock by teaming it with a leather jacket.

The New Look range is brilliant – full of cropped and tailored leather jackets that suit a range of tastes, including jackets made from Polyurethane perfect for those who dont want real leather. I’m a fan of the New Look faux leather Vintage Bomber Jacket £25 as it lends itself to many looks. I’d team it with my bootcut jeans and a polo jumper or, for warmer months, sling it over a vibrant tea dress.

Faith Sale 25% off all Boots!

In need of new boots for the next season? Head to the Faith sale 25% off all boots!

Faith have knocked a whopping 25% off their whole range of boots in a sale set to run till the end of the month. All Faith boots are reduced by 25%, including Faith‘s range of ankle boots which are perfect for Spring/Summer when the weather is showery and unpredictable!

My favorite boots from the Faith range are these Sonica boots in purple. They’re a practical choice (flat and waterproof) but also on-trend, in keeping with next seasons primary/bright colours. The Sonica boots were £75 but with the 25% sale on they’re currently £56.25!

Winter Trend Alert: Deco

I adore Art Deco, in fact, my passion for it boarders on obsession with a C.D collection made up of Cole Porter albums and walls filled with framed pictures of Erte’s drawings.

In recent months I’d noticed a spattering of Deco inspired accessories on the high street, however, since Look magazine declared it ‘Time for an Art Deco Drama’ our favourite stores seem to be awash with elegant Deco style!

Distinctive and strong, Art Deco is a mixture of geometric patterns and strong colours, most commonly gold and black, though jewel tones creep in from time to time (particularly in accessories).

Deco design stems from the 1920-1930’s era, at a time (ironically echoing our current financial predicament) when the great depression was on and women looked to fashion and design as escapism. Think embellishments’, abstract and graphic designs.

My favourite Deco inspired accessory is from Miss Selfridge, this stunning Deco Beaded Clutch is bang on trend with its black and gold sequined pattern! It’s a good sized clutch (enough room for purse, mobile and lippy) and has the extra option of attaching a chain strap handle, a snip at £22!

For those with the confidence to fully embrace the trend, my ultimate recommendation is this All Over Sequin Dress from Oasis, at £110 it might seem a little pricey, but you’re paying for the intricate beading (reminiscent of original designs). This dress is simply beautiful, an investment piece, the timeless elegance of this design will see you trough many-a-swanky event for years to come. Other high street stores that have slightly cheaper options in the dress department are Littlewoods Love Label, who has created an intricate black and gold sequin dress and Miss Selfridge, whose Deco Foil Print Cape Dress is oh so flattering and a fabulous £38!

To sharpen the look, team with a tailored tux, like the one from Urban Outfitters in my previous post and a pair of jet earrings– very Lauren Bacall!
