The collar necklace is the new way to dress up your outfit for AW09!
Perfect for jazzing up any ensemble, the collar necklace looks great teamed with a plain shift dress and is a great way of turning understated work-wear into appropriate evening attire!
The statement necklace has been around for the last couple of seasons, but AW09 takes it onto a whole new level with the stronger, more eye-catching version – the collar necklace.
So if you want to make a big statement this next season – make sure you invest in a collar. The Gray Metal Beaded Bib featured is by Wallis - click here to buy it now!

AW09 Trend Alert – Sequins – 80′s Disco Dress
Aug 24, 2009 A/W 09, debenhams, fashion
80′s fashion is back and if this little disco dress is anything to go by – it’s going to be a very popular trend!
Swathed in colourful sequins, this shiny, shiny dress is the latest offering from Matthew Williamson at Debenhams.
The perfect number for those wanting to channel the 80′s trend without looking too Dynasty it’s a softer shape then some of the more structured nod-to-the-80′s dresses currently available….and there’s not a shoulder pad in sight!
Sequins are everywhere, glitzy and fun, they’re a wonderful way to lighten your mood – I think every woman should have at least one sequin embellished item in their wardrobe this season!
So if you’re feeling a little nostalgic or are looking for a flirty little disco dress that’s bound to turn heads, this 80′s number from Debenhams is a must!

Autumn/Winter Trends 2009 – Trend Report 09/10
Aug 20, 2009 A/W 09, celebrities, debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, fashion, homages
It might only be August, but the hectic Summer sales have been and gone and our high street stores are already full of stock for cool and snappy weather…so I thought I’d fill you in on some of the key trends Autumn/Winter 09-10.
The 80′s are back! I must admit my first reaction was WHY? I did the 80′s the first time round and was vexed to see why teens were lapping up the whole leggings/neon heels/off-the-shoulder tee’s look, but as I have already been there, done that – who am I to judge?
I am pleased to say that the 80′s trend Autumn/Winter 09 is vastly different, homing in on the best of the 80′s – shoulder pads and embellishments! Think Dynasty meets Samantha from Sex and the City; structured jackets, flattering draping and fitted knits covered in bling… just writing about it puts me in a good mood! If you’ve taken any notice of the gorgeous Diane Kruger of late, she’s been rocking this trend for a while, courtesy of Jason Wu.
Inspired by the film ‘Coco Before Chanel’ our love affair with ‘Parisian Chic’ and ‘Chanel homages’ has once again dominated the high street with most shops churning out nautical themed tops and ‘ I Love Paris’ tee’s; but it’s the Chanel style jackets and bags you should really sit up and pay attention too – as most are quite simply, brilliant and a snip of a designer price tag!
My personal favourite is our current love affair with the Hero Jacket – or Trophy Jacket as it’s now known – a cropped jacket that’s adorned with sequins and embellishments, it makes a real statement and can transform an outfit. Moschino have designed some beautifully delicate versions, covered in pins and crystals but it’s Dolce & Gabbana’s ornate brocade Trophy Jacket and sequin jacket that’s are the real winners. Stunning ‘homages’ can be found on the high street at Topshop, Mango and Dorothy Perkins.
Micro trends Autumn/Winter 09-10 include over-the-knee boots, or ‘panto boots’ as I affectionately call them! Stella McCartney has created a lovely pair of flat over-the-knee boots that look oh-so-comfy… high street shops Russell and Bromley and New Look have followed suit.
The statement necklace or bib necklace is still massively en vogue and a great way of updating a plain ensemble – best on the high street is definitely the Accessorise range, but Primark has also created a statement necklace worthy of appraisal!
English heritage is another trend that has endured through to this next season – this perhaps has a lot to do with that feeling of nostalgia we all crave when times are tough… Nicole Fahri and Vivienne Westwood have designed beautifully cut dresses and jackets made of tweed, velvet and plaid prints. Gap has released a jaw-droppingly sharp version of a vintage tweed jacket with a modern twist that’s well worth a look.
When casting my eye over the key trend Autumn/Winer 09-10 one thing really stands out at me – the level of high quality cuts and craftsmenship prevelent in our high street ranges. Key trends look less dissposable – and clearly are less dissposable as they come with a price tag that reflects the level of work put into the garment. Fast fashion has had its day and our high street has taken notice, creating beautiful ranges of investment pieces designed and made with materials that will stand the test of time. This excites me – a lot.

Plus Size On Trend – Our New Site!
Jul 15, 2009 fashion
Following on from our expansion into maternity wear – I’ve just launched Plus Size On Trend – our new site aimed at curvy ladies!
A friend of mine and new Mum recently pointed out that while I may have tapped into the frustrations of expectant Mums by creating a site aimed at maternity fashion – she still had a problem; a voluptuous size 20 she wants to wear clothes that are not just practical but fashionable too…and why not? Mid twenties, fabulous looking and finding herself dressed in a uniform of jeans and smock tops, it angered me to see the pitiful ranges of plus size clothing available in most high street stores - especially as the national average for Great British women is a healthy size 16!!!
However, with fashion icons like Beth Ditto launching a range in Evans – other shops are sure to follow suit…I hope! And so, Plus Size On Trend has been created; a blog that finds fashionable clothes for fabulous curves. I’m scouring the high street and internet to find stores with wonderful plus size ranges and what’s more – I’ll be keeping abreast of sales and offers, publishing voucher codes as soon as they become available! Happy shopping! x

All Saints Dress – Sienna Miller
Jun 12, 2009 all saints, celebrities, fashion, festival fashion
Celebrity style princess Sienna Miller, has been seen out and about in this stunning summer dress from All Saints and it’s east to see why!
With her vintage credentials it’s no wonder Sienna Miller chose the Ditsy Ezra Dress; perfect for the summer season this cutting edge design is made from laundered cotton. Japanese inspired, vintage-esque floral print fabric has been draped and cut to create its modern hitch shape – a trend that is prevalent this season.
Clearly a lot of work, fabric and wonderful design has gone into this garment – part of the awesome summer 09 collection at All Saints.
M&S – Limited Collection – Snake Print Dress – Tribal Trend
Apr 14, 2009 fashion, marks and spencer
M&S continue to be on-the-up, creating another season of beautifully designed clothes and accessories that surpass the last seasons wonderful range; I love, in particular, the M&S Limited Collection which is full of forward thinking designs heavily influenced by catwalk trends.
A particularly wonderful on-trend item is this tribal inspired, snake print Pleated Front Tunic, which could also serve as a short shift dress. I adore the way M&S have mixed a formal silky material with casual over-sized pockets, making this dress suitable for both smart wear and dressed down days!
Team with a pair of platform gladiators – either bare legged for a night out or over leggings for day-wear chic. If you’re looking to channel the tribal trend – add some carefully selected jewellery – a pair of ethnic-esque statement earrings would do nicely.
